Osmania College, Kurnool was established in 1947 by a renowned philanthropist, Dr. M. Abdul Haq Saheb, M.A., D.Phil. (Oxford). It is a minority institution, recognized by UGC under Section 2(f) and 12(b) of the UGC Act of 1956 and affiliated to Rayalaseema University, Kurnool(from the academic year 2010-2011). The college is located on a campus of 9.5 acres and offers courses in Arts, Sciences, Commerce, Management and Computer Applications at the undergraduate level. M.A.(English), M.A. (Telugu), M.Sc.(Mathematics), M.Sc.(Physics), M.Sc.(Organic Chemistry) & M.Com.(General) are the courses available at P.G. level.

The College was conferred with the autonomous status in 2005. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council(NAAC), Bangalore, accredited the college with 'A' Grade ( 2^nd Cycle) for a period of five years with validity from 02-12-2016. The autonomous status is extended upto 2023-24(3^rd Cycle).
